Hormones are very powerful substances that change our body’s physiology. They are prescribed to treat menopause symptoms, replace hormones (when the uterus or ovaries are removed) or correct hormonal imbalance. Some of the symptoms they are intended to treat include irregular periods, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, chills, night sweats, sleep problems, mood changes, weight gain and slowed metabolism.
But could there be another cause for these symptoms? It is important to look at the benefits versus risks of hormone therapy.
Studies have shown that taking hormones can lead to horrible side effects including:
- Increased risk of urinary incontinence
- Dementia
- Increased risk of stroke, blood clots, and heart attack
- More likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer
- Colorectal tumors were more advanced
The good news is there is a better way! In my experience with students suffering from hot flashes, night sweats, mood disorders and many other hormonal symptoms, these symptoms were caused by infections, nutritional deficiencies and toxicity.
Our approach treats the infections that cause many of the symptoms of hormone imbalance – some infections actually produce hormone type chemicals that disrupt our endocrine system. When we treat these infections and support the body using a holistic approach, the symptoms subside and women feel well again. Please watch my video below to learn more about the confusing topic of hormone therapy.
